Striiv MyLand Level 4: Chart of Cost and Earnings (Gems, Coins, Energy)

1/22/2015

Striiv's MyLand game is a fitness-fueled game that pairs with the Striiv fitness trackers and the Striiv smartphone app. The fitness tracker or app counts your steps throughout the day and tallies them up as "energy points" that you can spend in the game to plant buildings and flora on fantasy islands. In turn, these items earn coins and gems.

This post is part of a multi-part series that lists the cost and earnings for different MyLand items you can buy with your energy points and MyLand coins:
Level 1 Cost and Earnings Comparison (Gems, Coins, Energy) for Striiv MyLand
Level 2 Cost and Earnings Comparison (Gems, Coins, Energy) for Striiv MyLand
Level 3 Cost and Earnings Comparison (Gems, Coins, Energy) for Striiv MyLand
This Post: Level 4 Cost and Earnings Comparison (Gems, Coins, Energy) for Striiv MyLand

In each post, I present a chart showing the cost (in energy and coins) to buy or "level up" an item in the Striiv MyLand game, as well as the earnings of that item (in coins and gems), and how quickly it earns that currency. Below the chart, I call out some of the top earners and share a few thoughts on strategy.

In a final post, I'll look at the lifetime earnings of each plant and share some more detailed thoughts on game strategy.

MyLand Level 4 Top Earners, Highest Earning Rate & More

A few quick takeaways for Level Four plants and buildings (not taking into consideration how their earnings will change as you upgrade them):

Top Earners (Coins and Gems): For MyLand Level 4, the top three items in terms of total coin earnings are the Mermaid Topiary (3,00,000), Grandmother Tree (1,800,000), and Grandfather Tree (1,125,000). The Greek Vineyard is not far behind (960,000). The top three Gem earners are the Gem Mine (400), Fairy Forest (250), and a tie among Mermaid Topiary, Acropolis of Heroes and Great Grandfather Tree (200 for each). Keep these in mind if you only plan to harvest once every day or two days, since the rate of earning won't be as important to you, but maximizing the total value you'll rake in per daily harvest will be.

Top Earners per Hour (Coins and Gems): The top three items in terms of coin earnings per hour are the Grandfather Tree (93,750/hr), Greek Vineyard (87,273/hr), and Grandmother Tree (75,000/hr). Not far behind are Ice Maple (72,000/hr), Morning Bluebells (68,000/hr), Cyclops' Revenge (64,000/hr) and Mermaid Topiary (62,500/hr). The top three gem earners per hour are the Gem Mine (16/hr), Fairy Forest (15.6/hr), and Celestial Observatory (13.1/hr). Not far behind are Money Grove (11.7/hr) and Ice Maple and Maiden's Tower (both earn 10 gems/hr). Gems can be used to purchase coins (and items in the "Specials" tab in the store), so they can be a handy resource!

HOWEVER! Although these are the "Top Earners," you shouldn't necessarily spring for these items. Why? Each item takes up a different number of plots, so first you'll want to normalize the earnings per plot to learn which plants and buildings earn the most per plot. The Acropolis of Heroes looks pretty great, until you realize it takes up a billion plots. Maybe you could plant two of something in that same space and earn a better rate per plot... That analysis is here: http://www.bestfitnesstrackerreviews.com/blog/striiv-myland-game-strategy-all-levels-for-coins-gems-and-energy

Now that I have information for all four levels, I plan to do a few more calculations, and will share them soon (check out that link above). The additional work will likely include some of the following:
  • Notes on how many land squares each item takes up and calculations on "earnings per square foot" so that you can maximize your earnings spatially - done
  • A conversion of gems to coins in order to calculate a "combined gem-coin earning rate"
  • I had a few other things planned here, but they turned out not to be relevant once I dug into the numbers!

Again, here's the link to that deeper strategy post.

Happy stepping!

This ..... Is .... AWESOME !!! Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together.

I am a new player, love the game, it has upped my motivation to get moving so much, i have lost 5 pounds since the first of the year.

I understand that in a prior release of the app, there were challenges that allowed the player to earn additional energy points throughout the day, but they were removed in the current release. Unless they either bring them back or significantly reduce the energy cost of the big ticket items, i can't see how anyone will ever be able to make it to the other islands.

Looking forward to your next post ...... Thank you again !

This is great info, thank you.

I am wondering if the first poster was actually referring to the energy cost to purchase the Level 3 Fountain of Youth and Wizards Orb to open the lowlands and highlands, not the 2 other islands which look like they can be purchased with gems. I haven't gotten that far myself, and Striiv isn't exactly forthcoming with "how to play the game" information.

If so I have the same question. On a good day, I can log about 70,000 energy points - that is by walking and jogging. At that rate, if my math is correct, it will take me 2 weeks to build a level 3 Fountain of Youth and nearly SIX MONTHS to build a level 3 Wizard's Orb. Can that possibly be true? If there aren't any challenges that provide the chance for earning extra energy points, I'm pretty sure I'll lose interest long before that and just give up playing. I can't imagine that Striiv didn't think of that when eliminating the challenges from the latest release, but maybe i'm wrong.

If you could consider some comments on energy strategies with your next post, that would very very helpful.

I emailed customer care. Neil from striiv customer care replied: "we are currently redesigning challenges to make them better than ever! Stay tuned for their release via an app update."

Neil didn't say when just to stay tuned.

ps if any of the posters want to add me as a friend my name is lee pierce. we get 1200 gems

Hi Matilda!

The total energy required to build a Level 3 Fountain of Youth is 500k (300k for Level 1, 100k for Level 2, and 100k for Level 3). If you can earn 70k energy per day, it will take you 7.1 days to earn 500k! The total energy required to build up to a Level 3 Wizard's Orb is 390k (225k for Level 1, 75k for Level 2, and 90k for Level 3), which if you can earn 70k energy per day, it will take you about 5.6 days to earn 390k!

So take heart, it won't take you 6 months like you thought! But if you do get discouraged, you can still install the old Striiv app that has challenges -- search in the app store for Striiv Walkathon. Log in with your same username and password, and it will load up all your existing details and island as it stands in the current app. It may enable you to earn more energy faster!

I'll address this and other tips and tricks in the forthcoming post, which I'm working on right now!

Best wishes!

Thanks for this blog, great info!

How many steps a day are needed to get 70K energy? I'm getting no where close to that. Thanks!

fran is using an older app that has chALLENGES. CHALLENGES ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE for the current iphone app. customer service says they are working on it. without challenges (that give bonus energy points) 70k energy is about 65 to 70k steps or about 30 to 35 miles.it takes me 4 to 6 days to do that. but, if yhou are new, you should work your way up to 10k or 20k or whatever slowly hope this helps

OK, that makes sense. It highlights though how unbalanced this game is for people new to Striiv since for most people walking 35 miles a day is not reasonable. At 10,000 steps a day, building just one cool thing like a level 3 orb would take 40 days. This kinda makes the game unplayable for new players to have to wait 40 days to see something built.

Agreed! That's why my recommendation is to also install and use the old app (search the app store for Striiv Walkathon). You can have both apps installed, and use either with the same login ID without losing any of your data...it just transfers from one app to the other depending on which one you have open. That should make it easier to wait until Striiv releases similar energy bonus features to their new app!

Thanks Fran, but I believe the old app is no longer available in ios app store. At least I can't find it in the USA store.

Joseph: my strategy was to do a quest to build a level 4 venus fly trap. it takes a lot less energy points to build a level 4 vft than a wizrds or plus i got like 500k gold for finishing the quest now i am doing a quest to build a level 3 gem mine it takes 300k energy points to build the 4 phases of level one. but, the level 4 gem mine costs, about 125 million in gold (according to fran's chart) so by the time i get to level 4 on the gem mine i will have collected about 125 million in gold from my 3 venus fly traps plus the vft's generate gems
add me (lee pierce) abd youu can look at my island

Fran
Thanks so much for the info. I was actually trying to make a spread sheet of my own when I stumbled across yours and it's fantastic. It's very helpful to know how much energy it takes to do things. Especially since there's no way to find out until you commit....and then may be unable to earn gold from an item until you can upgrade it.(I do have a list of the challenges and what you get for them if you'd like it)

One thing I did that may help folks, if you have the gems, buy the albino dragon. That gets you an extra 5000 coins for every harvest. Mix that with a flowering bush that harvests every half hour and you can rack up tons of coins rather quickly.

I've been able to complete the various collect coins challenges up to the 500K one, which gets you a nice bonus.

I will be able to use Fran's great charts to strategically get some gems earning without trapping myself in an impossible to attain amount of energy. I already have a 'todo' list to work on next week.

Earning energy on the current app, I would say an average person could get 10,000 to 15,000 per day if they move a bit and get their 10,000 steps.

One thing I haven't been able to do is exchange 1000 energy. I honestly can't see how to pull it off.
